q&a for healthy skin
Should I exfoliate every day?
We promote very healthy, vibrant skin at Oshun Essentials so we don't recommend daily exfoliation. Exfoliating daily can strip your skin of it's natural oils. It can cause breakouts and irritation because you're not allowing your skin to heal properly. You should exfoliate every 3-4 days depending on how sensitive your skin is.
How do I use my body scrub?
If you are new to using body scrubs, we recommend that you start off with weekly use and then gradually increase to 3-4 times per week. Doing your normal shower routine is good and end it off with a scrub. Our body scrubs are loaded with organic avocado and coconut oils that will leave your skin feeling silky smooth after you scrub.
I have dry skin. What do you recommend I use for my dry skin?
We recommend you use our Whipped Shea Body Butter to rejuvenate your dry skin. With Shea Butter being its key ingredient, it nourishes your skin to promote clarity and address problems like dark spots, blemishes, stretch marks, and dry skin. Shea Butter is non-comedogenic so it doesn't clog your pores but we always suggest you apply any product that you are using on clean skin always. No exceptions.
What is "nutrifying pomade"?
Our nutrifying pomade can be used on your hair and skin. It can serve as lotion to your skin or as a hairdressing. Our pomade has the perfect consistency being as that it is very lightweight but its natural beeswax helps with making your hairstyles last longer preventing frizz and dryness at the same time. All of our pomades are antimicrobial and contain organic coconut, tea tree and Jamaican castor oils to promote healthy hair growth.
ABOUT OSHUN ESSENTIALS
oshun essentials was made for you. let us sustain you.
Our purpose is to encourage a pure, organic and radiant you while promoting self love and prosperity. Our products were designed to enhance holistic health and provide effective skin and hair care by leading with education and example. Every ingredient we use is natural and organically grown, free from pesticides, chemicals or any other artificial agents.
Oshun Essentials was founded in April 2019 by Sigourney Hall. She started her natural hair journey in 2015 and she hasn't looked back since. As a mom of a little girl, she struggled constantly with finding the best products that would nourish both her and her daughter's hair. After quitting a job in 2019, she decided to start her own company to tackle these adversities that she always came up against. She then began experimenting on tons of concoctions in her kitchen to rule out the best combination that would be beneficial to her family and for many others who faced the same issues as she had. All of these products are hand picked and made with love from scratch by her.
We take our inspiration from the goddess, Oshun. Oshun is commonly called the river orisha, or goddess, in the Yoruba religion. This goddess is typically associated with water, purity, diplomacy and sensuality. Oshun is known for healing the sick, cheering the sad, bringing music, song and dance, as well as fertility and prosperity. She is the one who brings what is needed in this life through periods of weakness or strength. Oshun is the essence of love, sweetness and good cheer, beauty and flowing joy. We chose the name "Oshun Essentials" because we want to bring nothing but joy to every single person using our products.
